Jeffrey Frank, Co-President

A self-professed “history geek”, I feel fortunate to live in a community which, for decades, has committed to preserving a historic landmark that connects us to the previous generations who have lived here.

Neither a relic nor repurposed, I am grateful to be part of a group of like-minded neighbors who serve to carry on its original intent: "fostering harmony and good will for its residents”.

A transplanted northerner, I grew up in New York and lived in DC prior to moving to Sarasota seven years ago. In addition to my interest in historic preservation, I am a psychotherapist in private practice, an amateur painter and love biking and kayaking.

Anja Berg Palombo, Co-President

I am originally from Hamburg, Germany but spent most of my adult life living, teaching and making art in a variety of places overseas. Joel and I moved here with our kids ten years ago.

I love the sense of community in this neighborhood as well as the connection to “old Florida” and nature. I love meeting all kinds of musicians and artists and putting interesting events together. I am happy that we have a venue that makes it possible to come together and enjoy music, art and each others’ company.

I am interested in way too many things, including the environment, gardening, travel, food, people and obviously all kinds of art and music.

You can see my current artwork at http://www.anjapalombo.com and at the Soft Water Gallery in St Petersburg. I also teach Pottery for adults at the ACE program on the campus of the Suncoast Polytech School.

Jim Ferguson, Vice President

Carol Felten, Treasurer

I was born in  New Jersey and after attending school in St Petersburg, I moved to Sarasota.  I have lived in the same house in the Maine Colony for 45 years.  I have seen the neighborhood changed over the years but the feeling of community has always been here. I have done accounting all my life so it was just automatic that I would become the forever Treasurer. I enjoy reading and boating and the feeling of community here.  Old Florida is still alive in The Maine Colony.

Joel Palombo, Secretary

It is a happy coincidence that we live in the neighborhood, and are involved with the Clubhouse. I was born and raised with a camera in my hands and got a degree in ceramic sculpture in Detroit. Became a teacher which consequently brought me to Japan, Germany, Turkey, and India. I spent 17 years in New Delhi, India, teaching art and making movies. I have enjoyed working with a variety of artists to create community events around the world. Anja and I are currently organizing a traveling exhibition called, ‘Postcards from Utopia’. I enjoy adventures and love connecting the world through art.

Elizabeth Dexter, Board Member

I am a Sarasota native, and my parents’ house was just across Phillippi Creek from the Maine Colony. I moved to my current house in 2019, and was immediately made welcome in this wonderful historic neighborhood. I love the sense of community, and the eclectic, gifted, and interesting residents in this area. And, my life is richer from the concerts, arts programs, and community that are held at the Clubhouse.

Also a Sarasota native, I am also very glad that there is an opportunity to preserve the history of our area through buildings like the Clubhouse. Sadly, so much of our area’s architectural inheritance has been lost.

Pat Rodriguez, Board Member

I am actively involved in the local community and proud to be a Board member of the Phillippi Crest Club.

I love the beaches and cherish spending quality time with friends and family, basking in the sun and enjoying the ocean.

Beyond real estate pursuits, I engage in various activities, including working out, reading, volunteering in the community, and playing with my beloved dogs.

Phillip Thierman, Board Member

I look forward to engaging further with our Sarasota community as a part of the board of the Phillippi Crest Club.

I am passionate about Historic Preservation, The Arts, and Community Building.
